"The Perfect Crime" Board Game Development

-
Theme & Mechanics
"The Perfect Crime" is a game based on the card game version of "Pictureka!" The objective of "Pictureka!" is to match the Picture Cards in the player's hand to the Mission Card revealed in every round. The first player to lose all of their cards wins the game. "The Perfect Crime" functions in a very similar way, but with a twist into the crime and mystery genre.
With "Pictureka!" being an abstract strategy game, there isn't a narrative to be tied the the objective: eliminating all of the cards in your hand to win. So one of the mechanics that's different from the original is the addition of a theme. This theme is: be the first criminal to clean up your tracks at a crime scene.

Mechanic #1: The Cards

To achieve the objective, players must match the eight Evidence Cards in their hand to the Mission Card that's revealed in every round. The first player to match their Evidence Card to the Mission Card is the winner of that round. The success of each match is determined by the other players at the table.
-
Mechanic #2: The Detective Board

Another diversion from the original game is the inclusion of a board and dice. Though taking up a large space in the layout, the board does not take a predominant role in the player winning the game. The board functions to add an element of surprise, with each "room" providing different consequences for the players as their Detective Pieces move along the board.
-
Mechanic #3: The Detectives

In tandem with the function of the Detective Board, the Detective Pieces are the tokens that determine what type of consequences befall the players per round. When a player matches their Evidence Card to a Mission Card successfully, the player must roll a die to see where their Detective goes. They can recieve a positive, negative, or no consequence at all depending on the square their Detective Piece lands on.

"Ghost BOO-sters!" Top-Down Shooter

A top-down shooter game I made in GameMaker while I was in high school! Unfortunately, due to exporting issues at the time, a playable copy of the game is no longer available.
